There are lots of great things happening at Living Hope Lighthouse! Fellowship, disciple making, outreach events and more. It all happens because people give of their time and talents. This is our church and we all know our purpose: Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples. It takes people who are willing to be plugged in to fulfill our purpose. After all, we are all a part of the Body of Christ (the Church) and, therefore, we ALL have a function to perform in order for the Church to be at its healthiest.
As you consider the ways in which you can get involved by serving in our various ministries, we must consider two very important factors. First, we need to identify and know what we are passionate and enthusiastic about. Are you passionate about evangelism, teaching God's Word, hosting events, music, working with children, technology or something else? Serving the Lord as a member of the Body of Christ is not a chore, but a privilege. We should enjoy being involved in ministry, and allowing our service to follow our passions is one way to ensure that serving God is not only necessary, but fun as well.
The second factor to consider is that of discovering and using our spiritual gifts. God, through His Spirit, gives all of his children spiritual gifts (1 Cor. 12:1-11). These gifts are special abilities, that are given to believers only through the Holy Spirit, which empowers believers to edify the Church and grow God's Kingdom. Where we serve at LHL should be informed and guided by our passions and our spiritual gifts. You know what you are passionate about, but perhaps you don't know what your spiritual gifts are. Below is a brief spiritual gifts inventory which you can print out and complete. This inventory will give you a sense of what your spiritual gifts are so that you can serve the Church in the way God designed you to. As you look to become involved at LHL, please keep these God-given gifts in mind. If you would like to get involved in serving at LHL, we would be happy to sit down and talk with you about the many opportunities to get plugged in.
God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts, use them well to serve one another. 1 Peter 4:10
